Aluminum Cutting Capabilities
The 1000, 2000 and 3000 aluminum grades are more difficult to cut as their lack of alloying constituents negatively influence the ability to produce high quality edges. The laser cut edges typically are rougher and have more dross. The 5000, 6000 and 7000 alloys are more readily laser cut with the laser and the assist cutting gases as the alloying elements interact better at producing higher quality edges and little or no dross. Ohio Laser can process these aluminum grades with or without protective plastic film so long as the plastic covering is rated for fiber lasers and adheres tightly.
Aluminum alloys processed include 3003, 5052, 6061, 6063, 7075 in all tempers.
